About Us

Our research focuses on improving our understanding of the effects of human disturbance on the ecology of animal and plant species as well as on ecosystem function.

We look at these questions in a variety of ecosystems particularly in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest (Mata Atlântica) and in the wetlands of the Pantanal. We work at both local and global scales, using a range of observational, experimental, and meta-analytical approaches. Our research group is headed by Dr. Mauro Galetti and Dr. Marina Côrtes from the Department of Ecology at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) located in Rio Claro, southeast of Brazil.
